In Japan, there is a group of practitioners who use the mountains as their training grounds; they are called "Yamabushi." For over a thousand years, Yamabushi have walked and chanted through mountain forests, training their minds and bodies through dialogue with nature.
|For Those Who Love Hiking|
You are familiar with elevation, routes, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with reaching the summit. But for Yamabushi, mountain climbing is not about conquering—it is about "receiving." In Yamabushi tradition, the Three Mountains of Dewa (Dewa Sanzan) symbolize death, birth, and rebirth. Walking a mountain trail is a process of physical and mental renewal. Once you understand the Yamabushi spirit, the next time you step into the mountains, you will hear sounds you previously missed, and hiking will become a journey of inner dialogue with yourself.
On this evening, we have invited Master Fumihiro Hoshino (Sendatsu), a Yamabushi master from Mount Haguro in Japan, to Hotel UKETAMO. He will personally share the spirit and daily practices of Yamabushi cultivation (with on-site Mandarin interpretation). From a Yamabushi perspective, he will lead you to rediscover this "Mountain in the City": UKETAMO.
Echoing the SBNR (Spiritual But Not Religious) lifestyle, AVATA will lead a one-hour chanting session. Participants do not need any religious background—through sound and breath, you can connect with yourself and others present.
